Arkle prince Edwardstone could follow Cheltenham up with an Aintree date on Grand National day says trainer Alan King.

The popular eight-year old was brought down at Warwick when re-appearing in November but made amends at the Midlands track in February before going on to Akle glory at the Festival.

The 5-2 favourite held off the powerful Irish challengers to take a four and a half-lengths victory in the two-mile Grade 1.

King reports that Edwardstone recovered beautifully from his Cheltenham adventure and now the Maghull Novices' Chase on Grand National day (April 9) could be next on the agenda.

"Edwardstone is absolutely fine," said the Barbury Castle handler.
"I had a quick meeting with the owners at Southwell on Monday and the plan is to go to Aintree, as long as we're happy with him.
"It will be Aintree or nowhere - I won't go to Punchestown with him.
"He will tell me. He seems in good order, but we don't have to make a rushed decision on that."
