What a season it's been for trainer Donald McCain and jockey Brian Hughes!
It's no surprise that Hughes is way out in front at the top of the National Hunt jockeys' championship after the support he has received from the Cheshire-based handler and the pair has more than one chance on Friday's Catterick card.
Of all of them, I'm taking the value likely to be on offer about Blueberry Wine, who goes in the Join Racing TV Now Novices' Handicap Chase (13.30) over a trip just shy of two miles.
I say value, because due to his flop last time at Plumpton, he'll be a significantly bigger price for this than if he'd run as well as anticipated there.
It's hard to put your finger on what went wrong there and sometimes it doesn't do to dwell on these things too much. He had proved in his win at Sedgefield (under Hughes) on his penultimate start that he can perform to a much higher level.
He's been dropped 1lb following that latest run, and if he can bounce back over this similarly undulating track to Sedgefield, then he could still be well treated.
He's only raced three times over fences so it is hard to believe that we've seen the best of him and I'm taking Blueberry Wine to spring back into life at Catterick on Friday.
