Nicky Henderson is no stranger to Aintree success, though he's never yet had the National winner. He won't this year either, having had to withdraw his only entry on Thursday.

Planet Sport caught up with the champion trainer on the Aintree course a few hours before the race, whilst he was standing nearby jockey James Bowen, who rides Kildisart.

It was quite clear where his loyalties lie: "I'd love to see James Bowen win it! Simple, simple, simple!"

Kildisart was second in the 2021 Ultima at Cheltenham but then had a long layoff and then finished a staying on fourth in the BetVictor Greatwood Gold Cup Handicap Chase in early March. He could be a good each-way shout but there are concerns over his fitness.

All joking apart, as you'd expect, 'Hendo' has run the rule over the whole field and said: "I think the obvious horse is Snow Leopardess. She's got the profile to win the race.

"Her build up has been good, she's done everything you'd want. You never know until the day of course but I don't think she's favourite by accident."
On his lack of representation in the world's greatest steeplechase, he added: "It's a shame not to have a runner this year. I wanted to run Caribbean Boy but he went lame on Thursday.
"It's a bit sad when you get so close and that happens but from those that are running I like the mare (Snow Leopardess) and if one of the Bowen boys can't win it (Sean rides Samcro) then I think she could be the one."
Planet Sport tipster says: Possibly the most popular entry for 2022, the galloping grey mare had time out to deliver a foal and returned in red hot form.
A win in the Becher Chase was top notch for this and it will be no surprise for her odds to shorten through sheer affection. Snow Leopardess is a seriously good chaser and shouldn't be underestimated.
