The Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup (15:30) is a special race and, more often than not, it takes a special performance to win it.
I think the one that can produce that this year is Galvin. He's trained by Gordon Elliott, who previously sent out Don Cossack to win the prize and it's always a good thing for punters when a trainer knows the type who can do the job.
With Aye Right likely to set the fractions, thorough stayer Galvin will get the strong pace he will need to bring that stamina into play. He won the 3m6f National Hunt Chase here last year, so he won't be stopping up the hill.
He's very consistent and jumped as well as I have seen him for one that's still a relative novice, when beating last year's Gold Cup runner-up A Plus Tard a short-head in Leopardstown's Grade 1 Savill's Chase over Christmas.
For me, he has that improving profile of so many Gold Cup winners and think he'll have his nose on front where it matters most.
So, it's Galvin to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup (15.30) at Cheltenham on Friday.
