Stuart Williams' three-year-old Dirty Martini was the subject of some confidence on debut, when she was supported from a double-figure price into 7-1. The money was well founded. Under Marco Ghiani she tried to make all but she raced freely and was never allowed to settle by 125-1 shot Elf Rising, who only gave best a furlong or so out.
By this time, favourite Al Ameen was making headway and he was able to collar Dirty Martini late in the piece. Perhaps her headstrong nature had cost her the win that day, but she should benefit from the experience and could prove tough to beat this time.
We can also take encouragement from the fact that the winner has since come out and gone close again under a penalty, giving the form a more solid look.
The Williams team banged in two winners at Kempton on Monday, so there's no problem with the stable's form and Dirty Martini can clean up for us at Lingfield. Cheers!
It wouldn't be the strongest field of maidens ever assembled for Lingfield's Watch Racing Free Online At Coral Maiden Stakes (15.00) and Dirty Martini looks 'the right one' to be on. Cheers!
