The Virgin Bet Devon National Handicap Chase (15:50) at Exeter on Friday will take a horse with proven bottomless stamina to win it. So why look any further than a horse who comes into the race both in red hot form and off the back off a 3m5f win at Lingfield last time, Snuff Box.
The race does have a relatively open look to it, with several of the runners having a bit to prove. That was the case with this Venetia Williams-trained runner earlier in the season, when he was well below par twice at this track.
However, he has since got his act together, ploughing through the Bangor mud to win easily last month, before following up at Lingfield.
The latter was a very comfortable success, and I think he is capable of defying a penalty here. He'll also have the benefit of that 7lb being claimed by virtue of the fact that amateur Lucy Turner gets the leg up.
So it's Snuff Box in the Devon National (15:50) at Exeter on Friday.
