14.40 Chester - Majestic Dawn

Ever on the hunt for proper value, Pete is opposing the might of the Gosdens and going with Paul and Oliver Cole's Majestic Dawn in the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing IRE-Incentive Scheme Huxley Stakes.

A consistent six-year-old by Dawn Approach, a distance win on his penultimate start at Salisbury came in very game fashion by five and a half lengths.
Here's a snippet of why Pete is waiting for the Dawn in this one.
"Many are looking at Megallan for Dettori and Gosden as being really the only horse that can win this race, I disagree."
"I think Majestic Dawn for the Cole yard is a really good way in here. Now tends to run their best this horse, around the Autumn time, of course Newmarket and that really good performance in the 2020 Cambridgeshire as well."
"But it's a horse in it's work is apparently looking very very handy at the moment, I think that very very intriguing straight here at the oldest racecourse in the world sets up nicely for this horse."
"Yes, I know Megallan was beaten in the Earl Of Sefton by a Group 1 horse but I don't care about that. I think Majestic Dawn, at a decent price, has a great chance of getting the win on Friday,"

15.45 Chester - Night On Earth

Michael Appleby's Night On Earth is tempting Pete in the Boodles Secret Garden Conditions Stakes.

With most of his best performances on the all-weather, this four year-old gelding could be flying under the radar on turf but does have a course and distance win to his name.
Apprentice Harry Davies gets the leg up and takes off a whopping seven pounds.
Here's a snapshot of why Pete reckons Night On Earth can do the business.
"This is a race where there are plenty that have a very good chance but at the time of recording this horse is around 8/1, which to me seems like an absolutely ludicrous price."
"Now the best of this horse's recent performances have all come on the all-weather, some big wins at the likes of Kempton, however ran last time around at Newmarket on the turf and finished third."
"Yes, didn't deserve to win but I did think showed enough to finish top two. So you could argue this a decent each-way play but I'm not going to go down the barrel each-way here. I think Night On Earth has got a great chance at what I think will be a big price."

15.15 Chester - Solent Gateway

Pete reckons he has a Gateway to profit in the tote+ Chester Cup Handicap.

Hugo Palmer has taken over at Michael Owen's stables and the ex-Liverpool and England footballer always targets his home city track.
Ben Curtis takes the reins on the course winner and here are a few reasons why Solent Gateway has a big chance.
"Solent Gateway for me looks like a great way in for Hugo Palmer. Not long with the Palmer yard but did impress despite only finishing third of nine on debut last time around."
"Got a second and a win in a good two mile handicap here at Chester last year. Knows the course, likes the course and I think everything sets up nicely for this horse to go very well indeed."
"The trip shouldn't really be too big of an issue, so I think Solent Gateway, who is quite a big price, is probably a very good way to go in the Chester Cup."
