The Lancashire track has become a second home over the years to Bristol De Mai. Had the Gold Cup been run there he'd surely have bagged one or two of those.
However, his Gold Cups have been run here, as he's triple winner of the Grade 1 Betfair Chase at the track, while he has two other Grade 2 wins to his name and he's only raced here seven times.
Slight notes of caution are that he's not won over this longer trip, around 3m4f, nor in a handicap here. However, he'll get the mud that he loves, he's at the track that he loves and for me, off a mark of 159, he has the class to concede weight all around and win.
He's around 7/1 at the time of writing, so you can proceed with caution if you prefer and have an each-way tickle.
So, Saturday's nap is Bristol De Mai in the Grand National Trial (14:40) at Haydock Park.
