A field of seven has been declared for the Little Petey Hopper Woves Princess Sophia Handicap Chase (15:40) at Gosforth Park and in what looks a weak contest I'm going to side with one who is less exposed than most, Edmund Dantes.

Representing trainer Ruth Jefferson and the mount of champion elect Brian Hughes, the six-year-old won nicely on his chase debut at Market Rasen (2m3f, soft) last month, beating the hat-trick seeking favourite in the process.
The handicapper didn't miss that, putting him up 9lb, but he still looks well treated off a mark of 93 and I am taking him to follow up over this furlong longer trip.

So to recap, it's Edmund Dantes to win the 15:40 at Newcastle on Friday. Good luck.
