All things considered, this should be a straightforward win for Paul Nicholls' odds-on favourite, Killaloan, who has finished third and fourth in his previous maiden hurdles, postmarking 103 and 106,
However, the remainder of the market leaders look well off the required standard, with the second favourite, Danton, being pulled up on his hurdling debut and running fourth last time to postmark a modest 84.
Third in the betting, Nadim, is making his jumps debut and was modest on the flat, but comes from the excellent Milton Harris yard, so must be respected.
The fourth in the market only postmarked 63 in a National Hunt flat race and the fifth was pulled up on its jumps debut.
Such a weak-looking contest looks ripe for a long-priced horse to at least hit the frame and it wouldn't take that much to beat the favourite.

16:00 (Taunton) Daany

The one that caught my eye at a sumptuous 150/1 is Daany from the Joe Tickle yard.

The six-year-old is an experienced, fit horse and won't suffer from greenness, having started life in NH flat races and postmarking a high of 91.

However, he was very keen so connections must have felt he would struggle to see out the two-mile trip, but having said that he would have been schooled over hurdles as a youngster.
Consequently, Daany switched and went on to run 23 times on the flat, winning twice over a mile and postmarking a high of 65, all while wearing a hood to help him settle.
He came back over hurdles recently and has run twice, and both times he has been held up last.
His last run was hugely eye-catching as he jumped slickly and travelled strongly. He made headway from the rear into midfield but was never put in the race which saw the winner postmark 124.

Daany coasted home on the bridle and I'm amazed he wasn't pulled in by the stewards, and surprisingly he still postmarked 89, which is five points higher than the 84 postmarked by today's second favourite!

When you consider how he was held up and not ridden out, he should be up there with the market leaders, not a 150/1 shot! The odds compilers appear to have made a massive error here.
We must consider whether or not connections have put him in this race today merely to complete his maiden quota, as he only needs one more run for a handicap mark.
I think there is a fair chance they will have a go as he will already get a handicap mark in the mid-90s and if he wins, that could climb up to 105.
In all likelihood, he only needs to replicate his 89 to place, and that would give us a massive 24-point profit on that 150/1 advised price.
The market clearly had him wrong at 150/1 (he is already down to 40/1 in places), and with his value holding down to as low as 12/1 I feel compelled to raise the stakes and recommend 1.5 points each way.
