Of those at the head of the early market, Walking On Clouds will attract support because he is four from four when racing over six furlongs for this yard, all of them on Tapeta (although none here).

However, those wins were all in Class 6 and Class 5 and he is now effectively 8lbs higher (because Oliver Stammers can't claim today) and up in grade, so he has a tougher task than his price might suggest.
It's also no surprise to see Vespasian at the head of the market because he is a relatively lightly-raced Newmarket raider who drops in grade following two third-placed efforts in Class 3 handicaps (over five and six furlongs) the last twice.

He looks a solid option from his middle draw down in this lower-tier Class 4 event, even though he is effectively three pounds worse off today because Harry Burns can't use his claim.

However, one who can beat him today is the well-handicapped course-and-distance winner Ballyare, who was rated 81 as recently as last September, and is now back down on the same mark at which he easily won a 12-runner Class 4 handicap over this trip from a much worse draw than this as a four-year-old.

He then won a stronger 11-runner 0-84 over this trip at Chester when racing off 78 last summer, so he is clearly attractively-treated at present, especially as both of those wins saw Ballyare come from off a strong pace.
With that in mind, it seems significant that four of today's field have led at least one of their last three races (three of them have led twice in their last three), so the likelihood of a strong pace is high.
Ballyare showed in December that he is in the form to strike when finishing a never-nearer fifth of (beaten by under two lengths) in a much stronger Class 3 at Newcastle.
Since then, he has run twice more, missing the break the first time and then being badly hampered coming out of the stalls last time, and he has been dropped four pounds as a result of those two runs, so he has strong possibilities in this lower-tier Class 4.
This is the lowest mark he has had since his course-distance success and the bang-in-form Ryan Sexton (three winners from his last eight rides) is a strong booking in this type of event (he is also one from four for this yard with a +5 return to level stakes).
The partnership looks a good bet at the prices in this handicap restricted to apprentice riders (the type of race that is often run at a fast pace).
