Thaayer looks interesting here in this classified stakes race after undergoing wind surgery during an extended 68-day break.
He raced poorly in his last three starts but those runs completed nine outings in the space of six months without a break and perhaps this two-month hiatus will have helped him out.
The eight-year-old has gone well after breaks previously, finishing a close fourth back in June last year at Newcastle in a 0-60 after three months off the track.
He is racing in much easier 0-50 company today in a classified stakes race, and this will be the first time he has competed at this level.
I would be rating this horse at around 5/1 to win here and anything 8/1 and above each way is good value.
Savoy Brown finished fourth last time out over a furlong shorter trip at Kempton, and stepping back up to one mile and four furlongs should not be an issue, and he looks a nice price in this classified race.
Both of this seven-year-old's career wins have come over the 16-furlong trip and he has also placed twice in 14 starts over the same distance.
When you consider that he has placed only once in 14 starts over other trips, then it's definitely encouraging that he is back to his optimal distance here.
The race overall lacks depth of quality and I would be offering 9/2 for this horse to win here, so anything 13/2 and above represents decent each way value.
