PAUL MATCHETT · PHILASANDE MXOLI · 2yo Filly

Broke through when resuming at Vaal in FM MPLTE grade, beating Nixie Girl by half a length despite starting an outside chance in the betting. That was a clear step forward from a well-held Kenilworth debut, and the winning rider stays aboard with a useful drop from 9st4lb to 8st10lb. Stall nine makes the task less straightforward, but she is lightly raced and can hold a placing if that latest win is repeated.
